Cubic takes wing with Navy flight training work

Cubic Corp. will continue to supply flight and tactical instruction to the Navy's Atlantic Fleet under a contract renewal worth $32.8 million over five years.

Under the new contract, Cubic of San Diego will be responsible for instruction, simulator operation and curriculum support for the Atlantic Fleet.

Cubic landed the recompete as part of the Field Training Systems Support II indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract, which the company won last year.

The company will perform the work at naval air stations Oceana and Norfolk in Virginia, as well as Jacksonville and Mayport in Florida.

At these facilities, Cubic technicians and instructors will assist with flight training and simulation for a wide variety of aircraft and helicopters, including the F/A-18 Hornet and Super Hornet, E-2 Hawkeye, C-2 Gray Hound, P-3 Orion, S-3B Viking, H-53 Sea Stallion and SH-60 Bravo. The instruction is spread out over the four facilities.

Cubic's Worldwide Technical Services Division, part of the company's Mission Support Business Unit, will oversee the work.

Cubic, which has about 6,000 employees and annual sales of $804 billion, ranks No. 70 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors.
