Compudyne buys Signami

Compudyne Corp. has acquired Signami, a provider of software and hardware systems for signals intelligence gathering. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The acquisition will help expand the Annapolis, Md., Compudyne's signals intelligence product line, and is expected to boost its presence in both domestic and international markets, CEO Martin Roenigk said.

"This is a 'bolt-on' type of acquisition that will enhance our technology and give us a state-of-the-art product line," Roenigk said in a statement announcing the purchase.

Signami of Severna Park, Md., offers a Windows-based software product, known as SignalWorks, that is used for signals collection and analysis. Its hardware and software systems are used by two national intelligence agencies as well as the military. Signami also has supplied these products to intelligence agencies of 17 foreign governments.

The new business unit will operate under the name Signami DCS and will continue to focus on signal intelligence systems worldwide.
