MTC lands Army homeland defense subcontract

MTC Technologies Inc. won a two-year, $6 million subcontract from DRS Technical Services to provide technical support for the U.S. Army's homeland defense initiatives.

Under the subcontract, MTC's land forces group will deliver software development, network architecture, system installation, test, documentation and training services.

DRS Technical Services, a unit of DRS Technologies Inc. of Parsippany, N.J., awarded the work to MTC under the Army's Rapid Response initiative, issued by its Communications-Electronics, Research, Development and Engineering Center, Homeland Defense Special Projects Office in Fort Monmouth, N.J.

Under the omnibus contract, the Defense Department and other agencies can buy a broad range of equipment and services. The task order provides network and systems support to civil agencies and other organizations that use new technologies for homeland defense applications.

MTC offers systems engineering, IT, intelligence and program management services to the federal government.

The Dayton, Ohio-based company, which has about 2,900 employees in more than 40 locations and had annual revenue of $373.3 million in 2005, ranks No. 34 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors.
