OPM seeks wireless Internet service for Federal Executive Institute campus

The Office of Personnel Management issued a solicitation for installing wireless Internet service at the Federal Executive Institute's campus in Charlottesville, Va.

In a recent notice, OPM said it is seeking to sign a firm, fixed-price contract that will provide 100 percent coverage of the FEI's three buildings, including bedrooms, classrooms, lounge areas and office areas.

The FEI is a government facility that provides residential training to federal executives.

Because FEI facilities are located in a fairly isolated location, the winning bidder's solution must be secure and avoid sending any signals beyond the perimeter of the property, OPM said.

"Access points must be accessible from a centrally located controller within each building and be accessible individually via wireless connection using manufacturer-supplied utility/configuration software for reprogramming encryption keys and running diagnostic programs," the notice said.

Also, the systems must include comprehensive maintenance support for one year and an option for up to four years, OPM said.

Bids are due May 15.
