Global Computer wins Coast Guard software maintenance deal

Global Computer Enterprises Inc. won a five-year, $25 million contract from the Coast Guard to perform software maintenance services, the company said today.

Under the contract, Global Computer of Reston, Va., will perform the software maintenance for two key applications used by the Coast Guard, the Transportation Security Administration and the Federal Air Marshal Service.

Company employees will perform the work on both the Finance and Procurement Desktop and the Contract Information Management System. The two systems offer the three agencies an easy to use procurement system that is integrated with the accounting and asset management in real time.

The agencies use the systems, which are part of a product suite known as the Core Accounting System, to provide financial management and internal controls related to simplified acquisition, funds management, contract writing and budgeting.

The Coast Guard, TSA and FAMS currently use the Core Accounting System to meet enterprise finance, procurement and asset management needs of more than half of the employees of the Homeland Security Department. The Core Accounting System currently manages more than one-third of the DHS budget.

For its part, the Finance and Procurement Desktop is one of the largest federal procurement systems, with more than 30,000 users at over 1,500 sites.
