Navy taps BearingPoint for strategic sourcing work

BearingPoint wins five-year, $55.8 million contract to support the fleet's strategic sourcing initiatives.

BearingPoint Inc. has won a five-year, $55.8 million contract from the Navy to support its strategic sourcing initiatives, the company announced yesterday.

Under the terms of the task order contract, BearingPoint of McLean, Va., will support the Navy's Strategic Sourcing Program with a range of implementation, change management, organizational and business improvement consulting services.

The services include preliminary planning support for competitive sourcing studies under revised Office of Management and Budget Circular A-76. Also included are development of performance work statements and statements of work, market research assistance, training support, and technical and administrative support.

The work will be performed at various Navy and Marine Corps installations worldwide.

The Navy's Strategic Sourcing Program is responsible for developing a more efficient infrastructure through competitive sourcing, privatization, divestiture and military conversion initiatives.

The savings derived from the Strategic Sourcing Program are expected to help the Navy better align military functions to its warfare capabilities and achieve infrastructure savings for operational use by the fleet.

BearingPoint has approximately 16,000 employees and annual sales of $3.1 billion. The company ranks No. 24 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list, which measures federal contracting revenue.
