Identix books Missouri fingerprinting deal

Identix Inc. has won a contract from Missouri to provide statewide electronic fingerprinting services and related processing for licensing and employment purposes, the company announced this week.

Identix estimates the value of the award, which is for two years and five one-year options, to be worth $14 million if all options are exercised.

Under the contract, Identix Identification Services of Minnetonka, Minn., will schedule, collect and submit electronic fingerprint images and demographic information from applicants throughout Missouri for employment, child protection and licensing. The state expects to process more than 150,000 applicant electronic fingerprint submissions each year.

The data Identix collects will be pre-encoded and electronically transmitted to the Missouri State Highway Patrol's Criminal Records and Identification Section for search of the state's automatic fingerprint identification system.

Identix, a biometrics services provider, also does statewide electronic fingerprinting services in California, Illinois and Tennessee. The company has 500 employees and annual sales of $55.2 million.
