GSA to release $5 billion veteran-owned small business IT contract

The General Services Administration this spring will release a $5 billion, 10-year governmentwide acquisition contract for service-disabled veteran-owned IT small businesses.

The multiple-award indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity Veterans Technology Services GWAC will have two functional areas: systems operations and maintenance, and information systems engineering. Both areas also will include IT security, GSA said in a release.

GSA is developing and awarding the contract in partnership with the Veterans Affairs Department and the Small Business Administration. GSA expects to award the procurement in early 2006.

The GWAC fulfills the requirement outlined in the service-disabled executive order President Bush issued in October. [See story.] It also will assist agencies in meeting their service-disabled veteran-owned small business goal of 3 percent for prime and subcontracts. In 2003, agencies spent only 0.2 percent with these companies.

GSA's Small Business GWAC Center in Kansas City, Mo., will mange the VETS procurement.
