CDW-G wins spot on Mass. schedule contract

CDW Government Inc. is one of 30 companies that have won the opportunity to sell technology products and services to the Massachusetts state government under a new schedule contract, the company announced this week.

Under the multiple-award contract, CDW-G of Vernon Hills, Ill., is the sole provider of PalmOne Personal Digital Assistant models and related accessories under the mobile computing equipment category. CDW-g will offer PDA models including Treo 650; Tungsten E, C, and T5; and Zire 21 and 31.

The two-year contract for IT hardware, computers, mobile equipment, servers and storage services also has five one-year options. It is estimated to be worth $64 million among all vendors during the initial two-year period. All state agencies, as well as primary, secondary and post-secondary education institutions, can use the contract.

Among the other winners are IBM Corp., Armonk, N.Y.; Unisys Corp., Blue Bell, Pa.; Apple Computer Inc., Cupertino, Calif.; Hewlett-Packard Co., Palo Alto, Texas; Dell Corp., Round Rock, Texas; En Pointe Technologies Inc., El Segundo, Calif.; and Sun Microsystems Inc., Santa Clara, Calif.

CDW-G is a subsidiary of CDW Corp. The company has more than 3,800 employees and annual sales of $5.7 billion. It ranked No. 43 on Washington Technology's 2004 Top 100 list, which measures federal contracting revenue.
