Alion lands Air Force technical services deal
Alion Science and Technology Corp. has won a five-year, $40 million contract from the Air Force to provide operational support services.
Alion Science and Technology Corp. has won a five-year, $40 million contract from the Air Force to provide operational support services, the company announced this week.
Under the contract, Alion of McLean, Va., will provide a broad range of technical and management services to the U.S. Central Command Air Forces Headquarters at Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., and its overseas locations.
The company will provide specialized technical and managerial expertise across functional areas, such as personnel and manpower, intelligence, air defense, training, planning, logistics, security, communications, force protection and operation of the command's operations center.
The contract supports the command's contingency mission requirements, including Operating Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, Operation Iraqi Freedom and the war on terrorism.
Alion has provided similar services to the command for the past five years. The new contract, which was awarded Dec. 30, 2004, expands on existing requirements, the company said.
Alion is a provider of research and development and technology services to the government and commercial sectors. The company has more than 1,800 employees and annual sales of $269.9 million, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
