Titan wins $163.9 million Army support deal

Titan Corp. has won a $163.9 million contract from the Army Space and Missile Defense Command to provide support services related to situations involving weapons of mass destruction in the war on terror, the company announced today.

Under the contract, Titan of San Diego will provide planning, analysis, exercise and IT services for chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and high-yield consequence management operations.

The work will be performed for the U.S. Northern Command for the Joint Task Force Civil Support located at Ft. Monroe, Va.

The purpose of the task force is to save lives, prevent injury and provide temporary critical life support in the event of a chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear attack in the United States or its territories or possessions.

When directed by the U.S. Northern Command's commander, the task force deploys to the incident site, establishes command and control for defense forces and provides military assistance to civil authorities.

Titan is a provider of information and communications systems solutions to defense, intelligence and civilian agencies of the federal government. The company has about 12,000 employees and annual sales of $1.7 billion.

Titan ranks No. 9 on Washington Technology's 2004 Top 100 list, which measures federal contracting revenue.
