OMB names Burk chief architect

Richard Burk, named chief architect of the government in November by the Office of Management and Budget, begins his new job Dec. 13.As the government's chief architect, Burk will manage the Federal Enterprise Architecture program, as well as lead the CIO Council's Architecture and Infrastructure Committee. Burk was with the Housing and Urban Development Department for 29 years, working in the research, demonstration and management areas of community development and housing rehabilitation. As HUD's chief architect for IT, he oversaw development and delivery of the agency's enterprise architecture, data management and strategic planning processes.He replaces Bob Haycock, who left the job in April. The position has since remained vacant, although Richard Brozen, a special assistant on detail from NASA, had assumed many of Haycock's duties until he returned to NASA in October. Karen Evans, OMB's administrator for e-government and IT, has since handled chief architect duties.
