Northrop wins Navy weather work

Northrop Grumman Corp. won a five-year $38.9 million task order to provide systems engineering and program support to the Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command and Naval Oceanographic Office, the company said today.

The company will provide technical, analytical and administrative support for geospatial and imagery analysis, and system engineering and analysis to the meteorological and oceanographic community's programs and projects. The technical support will help with collecting, interpreting and applying global information for U.S. forces at sea and in combat.

Northrop Grumman's information technology unit will complete the work at the John C. Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. Northrop Grumman's team includes Radiance Technologies of Huntsville, Ala., and Avery Island Technologies LLC of Metarie, La.

Headquartered in Los Angeles, Northrop Grumman is No. 2 on Washington Technology's 2004 Top 100 list of federal prime contractors. The company employs 125,000 workers and had 2003 revenue of $26.2 billion. Its IT division in Herndon, Va., provides IT solutions and business services for government and commercial clients.
