Mass. re-ups ACS for pharmacy benefit work

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. has won a $23 million contract renewal from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services to continue providing pharmacy benefits management services, the company announced today. The 27-month contract has options for two more years.
The pharmacy benefits management services come under the Massachusetts Medicaid program and include online claims processing, drug rebates, transaction data warehousing and call center and help desk.
ACS has provided pharmacy benefits management to the Massachusetts Medicaid program since 2001. During that time, ACS has processed more than 24 million pharmacy claims annually on behalf of about 1 million eligible beneficiaries and more than 1,300 participating pharmacies.
Altogether, ACS administers pharmacy benefits for 20 programs in 17 states.
ACS offers information technology and business processing services to commercial and government clients. The company has more than 43,000 employees and annual sales of $4.1 billion.
