Covansys snares Nevada voter registration work

Covansys Corp. has won a $4.6 million contract from the Nevada Secretary of State to implement a statewide voter registration system, the company announced today. The system will be ready by December 2005.

Under the contract, Covansys of Farmington Hills, Mich., will design, develop and implement a centralized, interactive, statewide voter registration system that will help the state comply with the Help America Vote Act of 2002.

The statewide voter registration system will let Nevada cities and counties share data, exchange information among agencies, validate and identify voters, detect duplicate voters, access voter history information, scan registration cards, generate poll lists and issue reports.

Covansys' subcontractors on the project are PCC Technology Group, Bloomfield, Conn., and Aradyme Corp., American Fork, Utah. PCC will furnish elections management software for the project, and Aradyme will provide database solutions.

The Help America Vote Act requires all states to implement a centralized, interactive statewide voter registration system by January 2006.

Covansys is providing six states with voting system solutions that comply with the Help America Vote Act. The company has more than 4,700 employees and annual sales of $378.6 million, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
