Motorola to purchase Crisnet

Motorola will acquire Crisnet, a provider of records management and related systems,to build upon Motorola's customer and technology offerings for criminal justice and public safety software applications, the company announced this week. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Motorola of Schaumberg, Ill., will benefit from Crisnet's records, case and document management systems for public safety agencies, as well as its law enforcement product line with software for managing personnel performance and evaluation and crime reporting.

Crisnet of Salt Lake City has been developing software applications for law enforcement, criminal justice and public safety agencies since 1984. Among its primary solutions are applications to manage records, that let field personnel access case and incident files from a mobile unit, and that let personnel gather, view, print, manage and store information across networks and computer systems.

The software applications also are used for tasks ranging from automating department workflow to analysis of community crime patterns. The company offers a broad range of professional services such as application use, crime analysis and investigative assistance.

Motorola provides wireless, automotive and broadband communications. It has about 88,000 employees and annual sales of $27.1 billion.
