EDS wins U.K. human resources work

EDS Corp. won a $458 million contract from the United Kingdom's Ministry of Defence to build a human resources system. The new system is expected to save nearly $1 billion over 10 years.
EDS Corp. won a $458 million contract from the United Kingdom's Ministry of Defence to build a human resources system. The new system is expected to save nearly $1 billion over 10 years.
Under the Joint Personnel Administration contract, EDS will build a system that will integrate several HR systems. These systems handle about 340,000 pay records, 570,000 master personnel records and 725,000 pension records.
EDS has been working with the U.K. Armed Forces Personnel Administration Agency since 1997. Graham Lay, managing director for EDS Defence, said the new work is a turning point in the way suppliers and government work together.
"This is a radical departure ? in terms of teaming, financial gain share arrangements and delivering an agile government model," he said. "This partnership sets a benchmark for the future."
