Faster wireless networking

Fortress Technologies Inc. of Oldmar, Fla., snapped up technology from defunct Legra Systems Inc. to bolster its line of secure wireless networking switches.

Legra had developed an innovative chipset that can encrypt and decrypt four datastreams at a time. The product, called CryptoFlex, was among the industry's first parallel priority cryptography chips and was hailed as a breakthrough for extending secure, high-performance networking to wireless communications.

According to Fortress, the company also hired former members of Legra's technical staff to help with integration. AirFortress products incorporating the Legra technology are scheduled to ship early next year.
