Defense taps Saflink for message system protection

Saflink Corp. has won $700,000 in orders from the Defense Department to provide ovide hardware, software and support orders for the Defense Message System.

Saflink Corp. has won $700,000 in orders from the Defense Department to provide equipment and support for a secure military messaging system, the company announced today.

Saflink of Bellevue, Wash., will provide hardware, software and support orders for the Defense Message System. Litronic Inc. of Irvine, Calif., a Saflink subsidiary, will perform the work.

The deployments call for Litronic's Argus 2500 PC Card reader-writers, which are designed to provide secure user authentication and data integrity for Fortezza applications, as well as software and support services for the messaging system.

The Defense Message System is for the Defense Department and its supporting agencies. Deployed at more than 270 military installations throughout the globe, the system supports secure communications of information at multiple classification levels.
