CMS seeks enterprise data center services for Medicare
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services wants to modernize its enterprise data center services and is preparing an RFP for contractors.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services will issue a request for proposals to establish enterprise data center services as part of its modernization effort, the agency announced today in a notice on FedBizOpps.gov.
CMS, an agency of the Health and Human Services Department, will establish multiple data centers that will be owned and operated by a number of vendors, who should be experienced with large-scale and complex data centers.
According to the announcement, contractors should know how to process Medicare claims and handle large volumes of transactions. The system will have to deal with tens of millions of transactions annually.
Potential vendors must be able to provide dedicated infrastructure within existing facilities to ensure the integrity and security of CMS' enterprise operations.
CMS plans a full and open competition resulting in multiple awards with task order contracts. The agency will issue a request for information by a planned industry day meeting Nov. 8.
