Army issues draft RFP for portal integrator

The estimated value of the contract was not available. Responses are due Oct. 5.

Reston, Va.-based research firm Input Inc. estimates an award in the Feb. 2005 timeframe.

The Army is looking for a single integrator to consolidate and operate its successful online portal. There are currently more than a half dozen contractors working on parts of the portal.

The Army recently unveiled the most recent version, built on software from Vienna, Va.-based Appian Corp. It includes new collaboration features for setting up online forums, chat rooms and e-mail lists.

With more than 1.7 million users, the Army Knowledge Online portal is considered one of the largest intranets in the world.
