Army taps five for aircraft support
The Army has selected five companies to compete for task orders for aviation maintenance and training services for the U.S. Army Forces Command.
The Army has selected five companies to compete for task orders for aviation maintenance and training services for the U.S. Army Forces Command under the 10-year, $2 billion Aviation Joint Administrative Management Support Services contract.
DynCorp Technical Services Inc., Lear Siegler Services Inc., L-3 Communications Corp.'s Vertex Aerospace division, Lockheed Martin Corp. and Sikorsky Support Services Inc. are the approved contractors for the contract, said a U.S. Army Forces Command spokesman. DynCorp is a unit of Computer Sciences Corp.
The U.S. Army Forces Command trains, mobilizes, deploys and supports combat-ready forces that respond to crises around the globe.
The indefinite-delivery, indefinite quantity contract is for one year with nine one-year options. The companies will provide maintenance for fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft, weapons systems, unmanned aerial vehicles and aviation ground support vehicles. Other services include project management, selected depot maintenance, aviation maintenance management and training, and aviation supply and warehouse management.
Lockheed Martin estimates that it will provide $400 million's worth of services under the contract during its 10-year period. CSC officials estimate its services at $500 million. The other companies did not issue estimates.
