Anteon acquires simulation developer

In a $15 million all-cash deal, Anteon International Corp. has acquired Simulation Technologies Inc., a provider of modeling and simulation software, the company said today.

Anteon used existing cash and credit facilities for the purchase.

Headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, STI specializes in designing and developing simulation systems for war games, soldier support systems and chemical-biological effects for the military.

STI is a privately held company that employs approximately 170 workers and has annual revenues of more than $20 million, according to Anteon.

"STI's war gaming capability, coupled with our training, seaport security and first responder joint communications capabilities, gives Anteon the added ability to market to federal, state and local homeland security markets," said Joseph Kampf, Anteon's president and chief executive officer.

Based in Fairfax, Va., Anteon is an IT and systems engineering and integration company whose primary customer is the federal government. It ranks No. 19 on Washington Technology's 2004 Top 100 list of federal prime contractors. The company employs more than 8,200 workers worldwide and had 2003 revenue of $1 billion.
