Robbins-Gioia sale is pending

Robbins-Gioia LLC confirmed today that negotiations are under way for the sale of the company to the Institute for International Research.

The two companies are still negotiating terms of the deal, and the sale is several weeks away, a company official said.

Chairman John Gioia informed employees yesterday of plans to sell the company, but no official announcement has yet been made, the official said. The company is expected to make an announcement providing additional details soon.

Officials with Robbins-Gioia and the IIR declined to comment further on the acquisition.

Robbins-Gioia of Alexandria, Va., offers management-consulting services and has contracts with a number of federal agencies, including the Army, Air Force, Patent and Trademark Office and the departments of Agriculture, Homeland Security and Justice.

The Institute for International Research of New York provides conference, exhibit, training, and consulting services.
