L-3 wins Australian F/A-18 training system subcontract
L-3 Communications Corp. has won a $26.4 million subcontract from Raytheon Australia to provide training equipment for the Royal Australian Air Force.
L-3 Communications Corp. has won a $26.4 million subcontract from Raytheon Australia to provide training equipment for the Royal Australian Air Force F/A-18 Hornet Aircrew Training System.
Under the subcontract, L-3 Link Simulation and Training will assist Raytheon Co. of Lexington, Mass., in providing the RAAF with a training system that will support F/A-18 pilot training.
L-3 will supply the F/A-18 Hornet Aircrew Training System program with high fidelity simulators that will support both individual and team training. The training system will enhance the RAAF's F/A-18 training realism and combat readiness, the company said.
The Hornet Aircrew Training System is being procured under the RAAF Hornet Upgrade Phase 2 program and is expected to support the service's entire range of RAAF F/A-18 training needs. The United States and Canada also use L-3's F/A-18 training system solution.
L-3's Link Simulation and Training division of Arlington, Texas, is a division of L-3 Communications Corp. of New York. The company has 38,000 employees and annual sales of $5.1 billion. L-3 ranked No. 14 in Washington Technology's 2004 Top 100 list, which measures federal contracting revenue.
