Duffey to head EDS' U.S. government business

Jim Duffey has been picked to run EDS Corp.'s U.S. government business, replacing Al Edmonds, who is retiring.

Duffey, a 21-year EDS vet, was named vice president of U.S. government business, the company announced today. He will oversee the Plano, Texas, company's federal, state and local government clients and relationships with senior military officials.

EDS' U.S. government business accounts for 15 percent of the company's $21.5 billion annual sales, according to the company.

Duffey has been vice president of executive operations for EDS' Global Sales and Client Solutions. In his new post, he will report to Steve Schuckenbrock, executive vice president of EDS' Global Sales and Client Solutions.

An attorney by training, Duffey began his career in 1983 heading litigation for the company's Government Services Group. In 1987, he was named deputy general counsel for international operations in London. He was in Europe for 12 years leading the company's Iberian and Italian strategic business units.

In 1999, he was appointed general manager of EDS Australia and EDS New Zealand, and served on the board of both entities. He later became vice president of information solutions for Asia-Pacific Solutions.

In 2002, Duffey was named EDS' chief sales officer, and in 2003, he became president of U.S. Client Care for EDS' Operations Solutions line of business.

Before joining EDS, Duffey held various positions with the Office of General Counsel for the Navy.
