Arkansas re-ups EDS for Medicaid services

Seven-year, $93.7 million contract renewal from the Arkansas Department of Human Services continues support for the state's Medicaid program.

Electronic Data Systems Corp. has won a seven-year, $93.7 million contract renewal from the Arkansas Department of Human Services to continue supporting the state's Medicaid program, the company announced today.

EDS of Plano, Texas, will continue to operate and maintain a statewide system and network that speed information to health care providers and process Medicaid claims. The company provides services such as help desk, training seminars, onsite visits and Web functions.

EDS processes more than $2.4 billion annually through the system, making payments to more than 14,000 health care providers. The company has managed the state's Medicaid program, which provides medical services to children and adults with limited income and resources, since 1985.

EDS has 132,000 employees and annual sales of $21.4 billion.
