Douglas Robinson was named executive director of the National Association of State Chief Information Officers.

Douglas Robinson, recently executive director of the Governor's Office for Technology for Kentucky's Office of Policy and Customer Relations, was named executive director of the National Association of State Chief Information Officers this week.

"Doug's strong executive experience in state information technology is a tremendous asset for NASCIO, as it continues to expand its services and help leaders meet the challenges of managing government information technology policy in a dynamic world," said Gerry Wethington, NASCIO president and Missouri's CIO.

Robinson has a strong background in enterprise architecture, customer relationship management and business processes, Wethington said. Lexington, Ky.-based AMR INC., NASCIO's association management company, selected him for the position.

Before joining the Kentucky Governor's Office for Technology, Robinson was executive director of the Office of the Kentucky Information Resources Management Commission, and executive director of the Kentucky Office of Geographic Information Systems. Before that, he was technology transfer coordinator for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Technology Applications Center at the University of Kentucky.

NASCIO of Lexington represents CIOs from the 50 states, six U.S. territories and the District of Columbia. Members include cabinet- and senior-level state officials responsible for information resources management.
