FBI to punish tardy contractors

The FBI will penalize its contractors if they miss deadlines on the Trilogy project to modernize systems agencywide, FBI Director Robert Mueller said. Trilogy is 21 months off track and will cost about $200 million more than the $379 million originally planned.

The project's next deadline is April 30. If contractors Computer Sciences Corp. and Science Applications International Corp. miss their cost or schedule goals, they won't get a $5 million award fee, and they will split cost overruns with the FBI, Mueller said.
