Affiliated Computer Services has won an $8.3 million contract from Montana to provide existing services as well as new services for the state's Medicaid program, the company announced this week.
Under the contract, ACS of Dallas will install a decision support system as well as continue to provide the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services with Medicaid administrative services support.
The decision support system will enable department managers to perform complex analyses of Medicaid expenditures and usage. The Medicaid system includes a comprehensive database with about 750 data fields and more than 80 million Medicaid claims going back to 1985.
Analysts will access the database using ACS's proprietary query tool, which offers advanced data analysis, reporting and graphics features. Access to the database will be tightly controlled.
As part of the one-year contract extension for Medicaid administrative support services, ACS will provide administrative, fiscal agent and health information analysis solutions.
These services range from claims processing and Medicaid management information system administration to fraud and abuse protection and collection of money owed from other insurers.
The decision support system work is valued at $2.8 million, while the administrative services extension is valued at $5.5 million, the company said.
ACS provides Medicaid services support to 12 states and the District of Columbia. The company has more than 40,000 employees and annual sales of $3.7 billion.
