CDW-G makes a deal

CDW Government Inc. is acquiring a division of T3 Corp. that holds a large NASA information technology contract. Terms were not disclosed.

CDW-G is a unit of CDW Corp. of Vernon Hills, Ill. In the deal with Fairmont, W.Va.-based T3, the company is acquiring its scientific information technology products division. The division holds the NASA Scientific and Engineering Workstation Procurement III contract, known as SEWP III.

"Acquiring these assets, including access to the SEWP program, is a strategic move for CDW-G," said Jim Shanks, president of CDW-G. "It significantly enhances CDW-G's contract portfolio and flexibility when serving federal customers such as the Department of Defense and its authorized contractors."

SEWP is a governmentwide contract held by 22 companies. It is used to acquire a range of technology including Unix, Linux, and Windows-based workstations and servers, peripherals, network equipment and storage devices.

The contract is important for CDW-G because SEWP has fast ordering capabilities that fit well with CDW-G's distribution model, Shanks said.
