Titan Corp. will build an enterprisewide information technology system that will allow U.S. military personnel and their families to get assistance services via the Internet, e-mail and telephone.

Officials of the San Diego company announced the new work today. Titan's Enterprise Services and Solutions Sector will perform the work under a task order worth up to $229 million.

The task order is for one year with four option years. The General Services Administration awarded it on behalf of the Department of Defense through GSA's Millennia Lite contracting vehicle.

"This single-award task order to support our service personnel around the world represents new business for Titan and our partner for this effort, Ceridian Human Resource Solutions," said Gene Ray, Titan's chairman, president and chief executive officer. "Titan and Ceridian will provide military personnel and their families with informational services every day of the year, helping them to improve their quality of life while serving our nation."

The new system will offer military families and service members a variety of information and services 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The initial task order will be used to develop the system and establish a 1-800 Support Services program, as well as stateside enterprise development support and program management services for the Army and Army Reserve. The award also allows other military commands and reserve components to issue future purchase orders for these services.

"Through this effort, military personnel and their families will have rapid access to new or expanded assistance programs, designed to improve their quality of life and deal with the pressures of military service," said Pat Goepel, chief revenue officer at Ceridian Corp.'s U.S. Human Resource Solutions. The division of Minneapolis, Minn., Ceridian Corp. provides payroll and tax processing, benefits administration, human resources information systems and training.

Ceridian provides managed human resource solutions for more than 20 million U.S. employees. The company employs more than 9,000 people and had revenue of $1.1 billion in 2002.

Titan Corp. provides information and communications systems solutions and services to the Department of Defense, intelligence agencies and other federal government customers. The company has approximately 11,000 employees and annual revenue of about $1.7 billion.
