Army taps MTC for power generation support

MTC Technologies Inc. will provide engineering, logistics and program support for the Army under a contract worth up to $25 million over eight and a half years, officials of the Dayton, Ohio-based company announced today.

MTC Technical Services Division in Springfield, Va., will perform the work, which will support the Army's Project Manager for Measurement, Electric Power and Protection at Fort Belvoir, Va.

The time and materials contract, issued by the Support Equipment and Vehicle Management Directorate at Robins Air Force Base, Ga., is for five and a half years with three one-year options. The contract is worth at least $15 million, and $25 million if all options are exercised, according to MTC Technologies officials.

For 10 years, MTC Technologies has worked to modernize power generation equipment for the Army and Air Force. This latest contract solidifies MTC Technologies' prime position with its customer for the next eight and a half years, company officials said.

"This win is significant in that it sustains MTCT as the prime provider of military power generation technical expertise. It also positions us to begin integrating necessary power generation capabilities for the Army's transformational combat formation, Future Combat Systems," said John Longhouser, MTC Technologies' senior vice president for land forces and strategic planning.

Under the contract, MTC Technical Services will provide engineering and logistic support for present and future military power sources, technology assessment, business modeling and production forecasting, planning and fielding of generator hardware and associated equipment, and equipment training.

MTC Technologies, through its wholly owned subsidiaries, provides engineering, technical and management services to the federal government. The company employs more than 1,100 people and had revenue of $118.5 million in 2002.
