Kansas taps ManTech for vital stats system

ManTech International Corp. has won a $1.9 million contract to provide the Kansas Department of Health and Environment with a vital statistics integrated information system, the company announced July 23.

Under the contract, ManTech International of Fairfax, Va., will design, develop and provide systems integration for a Web-based vital statistics integrated information system for the state of Kansas.

ManTech Solutions and Technologies Corp., a subsidiary of ManTech International, will perform the work.

ManTech will build a Web-based system for the department to enable health facilities throughout the state to securely add data directly to the state's repository of vital records. The new vital records system will streamline the entire process, from collecting data through issuing certificates.

An upgraded point-of-sale system will streamline the certification process, and a centralized, integrated database will allow the state to effectively manage and report vital records data to state and federal agencies.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment tracks crucial life events of state residents, such as births, deaths, marriages and divorces, as well as delivers services and provides information for policy decisions based on that data.

ManTech, a provider of information technology and technical services solutions to government, was No. 36 on the 2003 Washington Technology Top 100. It has more than 4,400 employees and annual sales of $500 million, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
