Booz Allen Hamilton Inc. has been hired by the Military Health System to help about 130,000 health care providers comply with HIPAA, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996.
The McLean, Va., company is the prime contractor in the multi-year follow-on contract to provide program and technical management support in the acquisition and management of Web-based systems for HIPAA training, compliance and disclosure tracking, according to a company release.
MHS issued a $4 million base-year contract with three option years on Monday. If all option years are exercised, the contract amount would grow to $14.1 million.
Booz Allen will be supported by HIPAA Accelerator Inc. of Bannockburn, Ill.; Plateau Systems of Arlington, Va.; QuickCompliance of Westport, Conn.; and Strategic Management Systems Inc. of Alexandria, Va.
The contractors will operate as members of the Tricare Management Activity's HIPAA Integrated Product Team.
