New York re-ups Dyntek for IT security and support

Dyntek Inc. has won a one-year contract extension from the New York State Office of General Services to continue providing information technology security and support, the company announced May 27.

The extension of the Systems and Peripheral Contract is estimated to be worth about $7 million, said Linda Ford, a company spokeswoman.

Under the contract, Dyntek of Irvine, Calif., will provide a broad set of IT solutions that include security offerings such as firewalls, virtual private networks, penetration assessments, intrusion detection and managed security services.

Dyntek also will provide the state with desktops, servers and proprietary technologies. In addition, the contract incorporates third-party solutions from other companies.

Steve Ross, Dyntek's chief executive officer, said the integration of third-party solutions would strengthen the company's offerings, particularly in cybersecurity.

Dyntek is a provider of technology and management solutions to the state and local government sector. The company has about 270 employees and had annual sales of $83 million in fiscal 2002, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
