Qwest's Notebaert named to NSTAC

Richard Notebaert, chairman and chief executive officer of Qwest Communications International Inc., has been appointed a member of the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee by President Bush, the company announced April 24.

NSTAC is a CEO-only group of no more than 30 telecommunications, information technology, finance and aerospace industry executives that advises the president and other White House leaders on a range of policy and technical issues related to telecommunications, information assurance, infrastructure protection and other national security and emergency preparedness concerns.

According to the NSTAC Web site, as of April 26 the committee has 27 members. EDS Corp. of Plano, Texas, Sprint Communications Corp. of Westwood, Kan., and MCI of Ashburn, Va., hold seats on NSTAC but their leaders have not yet been appointed.
