CDW-G wins $25 million Marine BPO

CDW-Government Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of CDW Computer Centers Inc., Vernon Hills, Ill., has received a blanket purchase order from the U.S. Marine Corps that will allow the service to purchase up to 4,000 IBM servers, the company announced April 8.

According to Jim Shanks, president of CDW-G, this blanket purchase order allows the Marines to purchase up to $25 million worth of IBM servers and laptops.

Shanks said that this win is part of the subsidiary's drive to find select partners to compete for government contracts. Partnerships can offer agencies a wider breadth of solutions.

For this win, the company teamed with Ichiban Inc., Lorton Va. While CDW-G will provide the equipment, Ichiban will provide the deployment and technical support services for the equipment.

In December, a team of CDW-G and Science Applications International Inc., San Diego, won a place on the National Institutes of Health $6 billion Electronic Commodities Store III contract vehicle to provide a wide range of products and services.

According to Shanks, partnering with SAIC was instrumental to the win, allowing the team to offer services and products across all the categories.

The reseller is forming formal partnerships with other service providers as well as training its sales staff on the capabilities its partners offer, Shanks said.
