Northrop Grumman wins $79 million FAA financial management contract

Northrop Grumman Corp. of Los Angeles will fully automate the Federal Aviation Administration's telecommunications invoice process under a contract worth an estimated $79.6 million over 15 years, company officials announced today. The work will be performed by Northrop Grumman's Information Technology sector, which is headquartered in Herndon, Va.

Northrop Grumman IT will build and maintain a secure invoice and financial management services data center that will support the FAA's Telecommunications Infrastructure program office. The data center will review and reconcile telecommunications invoices and FAA telecommunications payment data. Work will include resolution of invoice disputes and financial analysis and budget tracking. At the new data center, the Northrop Grumman IT team also will automate the telecommunications invoice discrepancy identification and dispute resolution process.

Northrop Grumman will integrate the existing telecommunications invoice review and reconciliation software packages within an IBM Websphere environment. A web portal will be operated and maintained to enable FAA users to review the status of telecommunications services invoices. At full operation, the system will process invoices for 34,000 to 36,000 telecommunications services per month.

The company already helps 25 government and commercial clients realize an average savings of 18 percent of telecommunications invoice charges annually, according to the company.

Work on the contract will be performed at the Northrop Grumman IT facility in Reading, Mass.
