Eight win $3 billion Army support contract

Eight companies have a won a spot on the Army's Rapid Response Program Government-wide Acquisition Contract, worth up to $3 billion, the Army Communications and Electronics Command announced this month.

The winners are ARINC Engineering Services LLC, Annapolis, Md.; Computer Sciences Corp., El Segundo, Calif.; Northrop Grumman Corp., Los Angeles; Lockheed Martin Corp., Bethesda, Md.; Lear Siegler Services Inc., Annapolis, Md.; Galaxy Scientific Corp., Falls Church, Va.; and VSE Corp., Alexandria, Va.

According to CSC, this contract is a follow-on to two other Army contracts: the Rapid Response to Critical System Requirements contract, issued in 1998, and the Command, Control and Communications Technology Engineering and Integration contract, awarded in 1996.

Available to all military services, the Rapid Response contract offers a vehicle to procure systems integration, systems installation, facility construction, hardware and software fabrication, configuration management and a variety of other services, according to government IT research and consulting firm Federal Sources Inc., McLean, Va.
