PlanGraphics to support the HUD's enterprise architecture practice

Systems integrator PlanGraphics Inc. of Frankfort, Ky., won a $629,000 task order with the Department of Housing and Urban Development to support the department's enterprise architecture practice, the company announced Jan. 7.

Under the task order, PlanGraphics will conduct business process improvement analysis to integrate the department's enterprise architecture with existing elements of HUD's chief information officer's life-cycle process.

PlanGraphics will develop a blueprint to enhance the development and implementation of HUD's overall enterprise architecture.

Enterprise architecture, an overall blueprint of an agency's IT system, was mandated with the Clinger-Cohen Act of 1996, but only recently has the Office of Management and Budget made enterprise architecture implementation a requirement for new funding. OMB officials have said enterprise architecture is vital to eliminating redundancies across the federal government and ensuring agencies achieve their missions by improving business processes and effectively using IT.

PlanGraphics is working in partnership with Consortia Enterprise Architecture of Westford, Mass., which designs, develops and implements business and information management processes and information technology solutions with the goal of improving enterprise operations.
