Affiliated Computer Services will operate New Jersey's E-ZPass toll collection system.

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. won a 10-year, $450 million contract from New Jersey to operate the state's E-ZPass toll collection system, state officials told Washington Technology Nov. 12.

The financial terms of the contract were announced Oct. 28 by New Jersey Turnpike authority officials, said Joe Orlando, a turnpike authority spokesman. Although legal staff is still reviewing the contract, it is expected to be signed without change to the financial terms, he said.

ACS would replace WorldCom of Clinton, Miss., which was fired July 2 because the state was unsatisfied with the company's contract performance.

Dallas-based ACS operates electronic toll collection systems in California, Delaware, Maryland, New York and South Carolina.

ACS has about 40,000 employees and more than $3 billion in annual revenue, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
