Ciber adds Army Corps of Engineers win

Ciber Inc. of McLean, Va., announced Aug. 14 that it won a five-year, multimillion dollar information technology services support contract from the Army Corps of Engineers, the company's first win with the corps.

The contract was awarded by the corps' information management office in Little Rock, Ark. Ciber will provide IT services support in the areas of wide area networks, local area networks and help desk.

The information management office provides the systems, operations, network and end-user support necessary to maintain all local operations, WAN and LAN support for the district and all of its field offices, including resident offices, project offices, locks, dams, powerhouses and park gatehouses.


"This is a great opportunity to prove ourselves ... strategically positioning ourselves for potential projects with other districts within the Corps of Engineers," said Ron Smith, vice president and area director for Ciber's Federal Outsourcing Division.


The division is part of the company's federal government solutions practice. As a result of its experience supporting networks such as the Army Reserve Network, the second-largest frame relay/asynchronous transfer mode network in the world, Ciber federal outsourcing focuses particularly on network-centric services solutions, the company said.
