Opportunity Knocking: Contracts

The Virginia Department of Transportation is looking to hire a systems integrator to manage an intelligent transportation system along Interstate 81. A request for proposals is expected in the third quarter. VDOT issued a request for information on development, coordination, integration and operation of such a system.The Louisiana Department of Social Services is expected to release an RFP for a client relationship management framework in the third quarter. It will be a standalone system with numerous interfaces to other department systems.The Washington State Center for Information Services is looking for portfolio management tools and services for the state's community and technical colleges. An RFP is expected to be released in the third quarter. The center develops, acquires and supports administrative applications for community and technical colleges, including financial, payroll and personnel and student management systems.The Northeast Coalition of States is planning to release an RFP for electronic benefits transfer services by the end of the year. The coalition is comprised of New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Maine. The coalition has released an RFI to solicit information from vendors. New York is the lead state on the project.Harford County, Md., plans to replace its emergency radio system to bring more frequencies and new equipment to its fire and police services. A procurement is expected by the fourth quarter of this year. Harford County has $8.5 million budgeted in 2002-03 for the project. To complete the overhaul, the county will spend about $23 million.
