BAE captures $37.5 million missile deal

BAE Systems Mission Solutions Inc. has won a $37.5 million contract from the U.S. Strategic Command for engineering services and onsite support of the air vehicle planning system program, the company announced June 20.

The air vehicle planning system developed by BAE Systems Mission Solutions is a full fidelity, force-level mission planning system that performs accounting and analytical functions in support of the nation's single integrated operational plan and conventional air-launched cruise missile planning, the company said.

Marshall Banker, president of BAE Systems Mission Solutions business unit, said the system is a flexible product that will respond well to advancements in military planning guidance for future weapons systems.

The U.S. Strategic Command employs about 1,500 people drawn from the four military services. Its purpose is to deter military attack on the United States and its allies and, should deterrence fail, employ forces so as to achieve national objectives.

Engineering services will be performed at BAE Systems facilities in San Diego, Bellevue, Neb. The company will conduct onsite support at Offutt Air Force Base, Neb.

BAE Systems Mission Solutions is part of BAE Systems North America. Both companies are based in San Diego.
