Titan catches a Navy contract
Titan Corp. has been awarded a test and evaluation contract by the Navy potentially worth $188 million through April 2007, the company announced May 1. Awarded by the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, the cost-plus-fixed-fee, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract will support the division's Mission Systems and Sensor Systems units within Test and Evaluation Engineering Competency, headquartered at Patuxent River, Md.
"This latest award solidifies Titan as a premier provider of [research and testing] services to the Naval aviation community," said Gene Ray, Titan's chairman, president and chief executive officer.
Titan's engineering support for the mission systems division will include test and evaluation of avionics in fighter-attack, rotary wing and maritime patrol aircraft, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles and other special mission aircraft.
Typical efforts include evaluating overall mission performance, assessing aiming accuracy of weapons and the suitability of multisensor displays, and planning for anti-submarine localization testing and tactical software interoperability.
Titan's engineering support for the Sensors Division will include test and evaluation of airborne sensors used in the Navy's electronic-warfare, electro-optic, radar and underwater acoustic systems.
