Titan lands $189 million defense contract

Titan Corp., San Diego, announced March 21 it has won a U.S. Special Operations Command contract worth as much as $189.4 million over nine years. The contract is for five years with four one-year options.

The contract for enterprise integration technology was awarded to Titan System Corp.'s Defense & Intelligence Systems Group, formerly BTG Inc. Titan Systems is wholly owned subsidiary of Titan.

Under the contract, Titan Systems will support special operations forces worldwide, including components of the Army, Navy and Air Force. The contract provides enterprise network management and engineering services for communication and network infrastructures.

Titan's team includes Electronic Data Systems Corp., Plano, Texas; AT&T Corp., New York; Jacobs-Sverdrup Technology Inc., California, Md.; Microsoft Corp., Redmond, Wash.; and a consortium of small businesses.

"This latest win significantly expands on the work that Titan Systems has been doing in support of the U.S. Special Operations Command for the past 13 years," said Gene Ray, Titan's chairman, president and chief executive officer. "We believe this validates our customer's confidence in our network design, network engineering and information assurance capabilities, as well as our detailed knowledge of special operations missions."

Ray said the deal also provides Titan with the opportunity to further leverage its technical expertise in enterprise management "to compete for additional [defense] and other federal agency customers in the future."
