Dyntek, Veritas make disaster recovery partnership

Dyntek Inc. and Veritas Software Corp. have formed a partnership to provide disaster recovery software and solutions to state and local governments, the companies announced Feb. 12.

The partnership builds on a relationship established in November 2001 when Veritas of Mountain View, Calif., chose Dyntek of Irvine, Calif., as a reseller for its contract with New York state.

Dyntek provides solutions to New York and local governments that incorporate Veritas' data backup, server clustering and disaster-recovery software. To date, Dyntek has sold more than $200,000 in data backup software to several New York City agencies for deployment in their data centers.

Veritas provides software that guards against the loss of data after crashes and errors, speeds information recovery after failures and tracks the location of data in global computer networks.

The disaster recovery software manufactured by Veritas is a part of Dyntek's security offering, which helps governments manage and control their information security risk.

Dyntek was formed in 2001 when TekInsight.com Inc. purchased the DynCorp Management Resources, the state and local unit of DynCorp of Reston, Va.

Veritas has more than 5,500 employees and annual revenue of $1.5 billion. Dyntek has about 400 employees and projected annual revenue of $100 million.
