Maximus wins revenue renewal in Kansas

Maximus Inc. has won a contract renewal to provide an array of federal revenue enhancement services to the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services, the company said Jan. 28.

The one-year contract has five one-year options, company officials said.

Maximus of McLean, Va., will receive a fee based upon a percentage of each new federal dollar brought into the state under the contract. The company typically makes between $3 million to $5 million from such contracts, company officials said.

Under the contract, Maximus will provide policy development, provider and staff training, case reviews, rate setting and federal claim preparation to secure additional federal revenue for the agency.

A key focus of the project will be helping the agency ensure it is in full compliance with major new requirements of a key federal funding program, the Title IV-E Foster Care and Adoption Assistance program and with the requirements of the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families federal block grant.

The contract is the latest in a series of revenue projects performed by Maximus for Kansas during the past five years. To date, the company has generated more than $236 million in new federal funding for the state.

The company has 28 revenue maximization contracts for states and eight for major counties, company officials said.
