Current Analysis, PTI Form State and Local Partnership

Current Analysis Inc. has formed a partnership with Public Technology Inc. to provide information technology and telecommunications analysis to help state and local governments make informed purchasing decisions, the company announced Oct. 29.

Current Analysis of Sterling, Va., has provided PTI of Washington with a Web-based solution known as Tech Monitor, which will provide government officials with market intelligence designed to help them plan, purchase and implement IT and telecommunications technologies.

PTI President Costis Toregas said Tech Monitor will be particularly useful to those governments that don't have the resources to evaluate all aspects of the technology they need to purchase.

He said the partnership "will help government buy the right technology, and select the best company, for their needs." PTI is a nonprofit technology organization for cities and counties in the United States.

Tech Monitor is available by subscription to more than 800,000 state and local governments in the United States and abroad, regardless of whether they are PTI members, said Joel Ranck, a Current Analysis spokesman.

Tom Davies, Current Analysis' senior vice president of solutions, said the partnership builds on the success the company has had providing similar services to private companies.

State and local governments that use Tech Monitor will accrue the benefits associated with informed purchasing decisions, Davies said.

"Tech Monitor will enable governments to make more timely and cost-effective purchasing decisions while saving them money and reducing their risks in the process," he said.

Current Analysis provides Web-based market intelligence to private contractors and government buyers that allows them to respond quickly and effectively to technology innovations and company actions.

The National League of Cities, the National Association of Counties and the International City/County Management Association provide PTI with its policy direction.
